Data Published in Neurology Suggest Long-Term Benefits of Spinrazaâ„¢ Treatment in Later-Onset SMA

07 May 2019

Biogen has announced that data from a study on the safety and tolerability of Spinraza™ in individuals with later-onset SMA had been published in the peer-reviewed journal, Neurology.
Twenty eight patients, aged 5 to 19, who have, or are most likely to develop, SMA Type 2 or 3 were treated with Spinraza™ for over three years. The results showed that these patients regained motor function that had previously been lost and that this treatment stabilised their condition, leading to improvements in daily living activities. These findings were not observed in untreated people with SMA.
