Our Thanks to our Retiring Trustees

16 July 2020

"Our July board meeting saw a number of changes to the composition of our Board of Trustees. Having served for two three year terms, it was confirmed that both Mary Fenton and Hassan Sobati will stand down in September upon reaching our 6 year service limit. In addition, David Hopkins who has been part of the Board for the last 3 years also retired. On behalf of the SMA Community I would like to thank all three of them for their tireless and dedicated support, their advocacy for our cause, as well as their wisdom and counsel.

One further change took place with Kevin Talbot stepping back as a trustee and taking on a new role as a Senior Adviser to SMA UK. Kevin is well known to the SMA Community as Professor Professor of Motor Neuron Biology in the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Oxford and Honorary Consultant Neurologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital. He is Director or the Oxford Motor Neuron Disease Case and Research Centre. His research focuses on the cause and treatment of diseases of the motor neurone, including SMA."
