Great North Run Solo

Whilst we’re sad that the Great North Run has been cancelled this year, we are delighted to bring you the opportunity to be a part of this historic event.

Great North Run Solo starts on 28th June (the birthday of the Great North Run) and runs until 13th September, the day the 40th Great North Run was scheduled to take place. To complete the challenge and claim a special edition Great North Run Solo medal, runners need to complete 40 runs of any distance over 78 days - a run for each year of the Great North run!

It costs £10 to join, and ALL PROFITS will go to the NHS Charities Together COVID-19 Urgent Appeal.

Once you’re signed up, please contact us for a sponsorship pack. There’s no minimum sponsorship and we are grateful for every penny raised, please email: fundraising@smauk.org.uk for details.

For those runners who also like a distance challenge, the second part of the challenge is for you. There are three distance levels and every runner completing a Bronze (100 miles +), Silver (200 miles +) or Gold (300 miles +) distance over the 40 runs will receive recognition of their achievement.

On completion of your challenge you’ll be sent an exclusive, special edition Great North Run Solo medal and digital certificate. Runners who complete a distance challenge will be awarded a Bronze, Silver or Gold memento to share, print and display with pride, to mark the achievement.
