Yvette has a teenage son who has SMA Type 2. Like many families, they have had their challenges with getting equipment, adaptations, worrying about coughs and colds, and of course spinal surgery, but this has not stopped them having many great times, holidays and laughs.

Yvette is a former television news journalist and was Head of Home news at Channel 4 News, covering a wide range of stories. She is now working as Director of Corporate Affairs and Communications for Unilever in the UK & Ireland, where she is the leadership sponsor for disability. As well as all things SMA, Yvette is passionate about making workplaces and businesses more disability smart, so that there are fewer barriers for disabled people to access opportunities.
