Bobby and his mum Ally hired the X8 for their family trip to Scotland and Whitley Bay.

Bobby, who is 14 years old said,
“Driving the Powerchair was really good. It was nice being able to go on the beach without getting stuck or needing help. Being able to drive up curbs made everything way easier as I didn’t have to look for ramps or ask for help all the time. It made me feel way more independent, and it was actually really fun to drive too.”
Ally said, “While in Scotland we visited Edinburgh Zoo which is on a hill and at times incredibly steep. With Bobby’s normal day powerchair this would have struggled. However, with the X8 Bobby was able to fully explore all areas of the zoo. There wasn’t anywhere he wasn’t able to go.
When we got to Whitley Bay Bobby was able to drive straight onto the beach with his friend. Bobby hasn’t been able to get on the beach for a very long time, and to see him comfortably and confidently drive straight on and explore was amazing to see. He was able to drive over the soft sand and get close to the water. Driving alongside his friend and being with the family made this an incredible moment on the beach.
When we return home from holiday, some of Bobby’s friends were going off to a field nearby. Normally Bobby is unable to go with them as his day chair won’t allow him over the rough terrain, however because we still had the X8 here Bobby was able to join his friends on their adventures. He was a very happy boy.
We as a family are very grateful to SMA UK for allowing us time to experience the X8 for our holiday, it made it such a dream to explore places together as a family with no one missing out. Thank you SMA UK.”
