On Tuesday 19th September, the SMA UK staff team came together as part of our bi-annual face to face meetings. 

Hosted by CEO, Giles Lomax, the day gave us all an opportunity to share updates on the current progress of significant topics and discussions were had on our varied workstreams including the NICE review, Newborn Screening and the Standards of Care proposals. The meeting also gave us the chance to look forward, planning for future community engagement and events across the UK that will bring families and individuals together to network, share experiences.

A key focal point of the day was to evaluate and plan for a new longer term SMA UK strategic plan to ensure the charity continues to serve the needs of the SMA Community and work towards our vision that everyone affected by SMA will have access to the best care, support and treatment and there will be no barriers preventing full inclusion in society.

We were happy to welcome Ally, Nicola and Gary to their first SMA UK staff meeting since joining the charity during the summer and are looking forward to sharing new upates about our current work with the SMA Community in due course.
