Every year, one in four of us will experience a mental health problem.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on the mental health of people all over the country, but people who already experience inequality, including those who have long-term health conditions, have been far more adversely affected. Post COVID, mental health care provision in the UK is now at crisis point, with late intervention and long waiting lists.

14th July: Update on the Call for Evidence for New 10-Year Plan To Improve Mental Health

Members of the SMA Community contributed their voice to the call for evidence from the Department of Health an Social Care to build a new 10-year plan to improve mental health.

Over 1,000 people took part in Genetic Alliance UK’s survey about the impact of living with a rare condition which were published in BMC Health Services Journal. The findings were stark, and enabled them to develop specific recommendations for improved support. You can read the full report here:
