Partners & funders
SMA Care UK brings together clinicians, researchers and patient organisations across the UK to collaboratively update and implement the national Standards of Care for people of all ages living with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). This partnership reflects the interdisciplinary approach essential for sustainable improvements in clinical practice and patient outcomes.
The collaboration forms a UK-wide network with the expertise, experience and infrastructure needed to deliver the project’s objectives and ensure that everyone with SMA can access consistent, high-quality care.
Our partners are:
- Clinical & research networks: The John Walton Muscular Dystrophy Research Centre (Newcastle University), SMA Reach UK, Adult SMA Reach, the UK SMA Registry
- Patient organisations: Muscular Dystrophy UK, Treat SMA and SMA UK
Special Acknowledgement
SMA Care UK is following the successful approach of DMD Care UK and is working closely with their project team to share learning and maximise benefits for both patient communities.
Our funders
SMA Care UK is funded by Biogen, Novartis and Roche. Their support enables collaboration between clinicians, researchers and the SMA community to update and implement the UK Standards of Care for everyone living with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).
While these organisations provide financial support, the project’s content, priorities and recommendations are developed independently by the SMA Care UK team, steering and working groups.
