SMArt Moves grant for wheelchairs that cost over £5,000

We have received a high volume of applications for 1.1 and 1.2, and to be able to honour those we currently have, we can no longer accept new applications. We can, however, still support you with your applications to other charities and through our Flexible Grant 2, if you would like to know more, please contact us at SMArtMoves@smauk.org.uk  

We can still offer SMArt Moves 2 for repairs and adaptations to manual and powerchairs. Please do still apply through the link if you need, batteries, risers, tyres, etc.  

All grants will be available again by September 2025.

 

Offering grants of £5,000 towards powered wheelchairs and manual wheelchairs that cost over £5,000 (in exceptional circumstances funding may be awarded over this amount). 

We will fund the following:

  • Power wheelchairs  
  • Manual wheelchairs  

What is the application process?  

We require the following documents in order to review your application: 

1) Quote from a supplier with your name on. This can include new or second hand wheelchairs.  

2) Assessment from an OT or physio acknowledging this piece of equipment meets your needs.

3) Proof that the applicant has a confirmed SMA diagnosis. 

We do not provide the full cost of the equipment and the applicant will be required to raise the additional funding from other sources. We can support with applications to third party funders, although we need to know that you are making efforts to identify the remaining funds when you complete your application form.
