Former Little Mix member and mum to twins with SMA, Jesy Nelson, is Patron of SMA UK. Jesy joined us after her twins were diagnosed with SMA Type 1. 

Through her campaigning Jesy has raised the profile of SMA whilst magnifying our ongoing campaign to introduce newborn screening without delay. We look forward to working with Jesy, further strengthening our mission, raising greater awareness, and expanding the positive impact we have on everyone affected by SMA from babies through to adults.

On accepting her role Jesy said,

“Becoming a Patron of SMA UK honestly means so much to me. This charity has been there for families for years, standing by them, lifting them up and fighting when things felt impossible. Meeting Giles, Lucy and the incredible team who’ve supported not just me, but so many other families has shown me what real strength and unity looks like. When we come together, we are powerful, and we are not going to stop until real change happens. I’m beyond proud to take on this role, to stand up for every single person in the SMA community, from tiny babies to adults living with SMA and I will keep campaigning with everything I’ve got, for my girls and for every family who deserves to feel seen, heard and supported.”
