These grants are to assist with buying items that support independence.

What will we fund?

We are happy to consider any request for an item that will support your independence. Please note, that we do not fund or contribute to equipment that should be provided by the NHS or Social Services.

How much can I apply for?

A maximum grant of £800 for any item may be made once a year.

This grant is paid directly to the supplier and cannot be issued directly to the person.

We do not means-test, but we do ask everyone to keep in mind that these funds are limited.

If your application is for more than £800, we can support you to find to other funders.

All applications are time limited. We can only hold your application open for 3 months while you are looking for other funds.

Who can apply?

Applications may be completed by:

Parents of children who have SMA
Adults living with SMA
Health Professionals on behalf of an individual.

How do I apply?

You will need to complete our application form and attach:

a letter confirming your diagnosis
a quote or invoice for any item – so that we can pay the supplier directly
a supporting letter from your OT or Physio to say that that it is suitable for you and meets your needs.
