We are grateful for all the media coverage highlighting the urgent need for newborn screening for SMA to be implemented in the UK, and to everyone from the SMA community who took part, from families to adults living with SMA, who shared their stories and showed what positive lives are possible.
January 2026
In January, there was significant media coverage highlighting the need for newborn screening. SMA UK was invited to appear across a range of media platforms to discuss SMA and emphasise the importance of screening. This coverage has greatly increased awareness, and we are pleased to see this vital issue receiving the attention it deserves.
