Join us for a special edition of Picnic in the Park at Modern One, National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburgh, celebrating a landmark moment: the introduction of newborn screening in Scotland on 23rd March 2026. We’re calling this year’s event “Marking the Moment”, inviting families to reflect on this achievement and its importance for future generations. 

Marking the Moment – What to Bring: 
This year, we encourage families to bring something special that reflects what this milestone means to them—whether it’s a keepsake, a photo, a message, or a symbolic item. As we gather in a time capsule for future generations, your contribution will help capture the significance of newborn screening becoming available in Scotland.

Location:National Galleries of Scotland – Modern One, 75 Belford Road, Edinburgh, EH4 3DR

How to join: Register online and bring your booking confirmation on the day (phone or print). Attendance is free for people with SMA, their immediate family, carers, and bereaved families.

• A welcoming space to connect with other families in the SMA community

What to Bring: Picnic lunch (optional), any specialist equipment, weather-appropriate items for outdoor space.

Photography may take place during the event. Let us know if you prefer not to be included. Children must be supervised by a parent or carer at all times.
