At SMA UK, we are committed to ensuring that people affected by SMA can access the information, guidance, and support they need.
Over the coming months, we will be reviewing how we work with and support our community, with the aim of making our services as accessible, effective and sustainable as possible for the future. As part of this, we will be looking at new ways to connect with and support people affected by SMA.
One of the first changes we will be introducing is a series of online support sessions. These sessions will be open to anyone affected by SMA and will provide an opportunity to ask questions, share experiences, access support, and connect with others in the community. We look forward to sharing more details soon.
We would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the recent departure of two long-serving members of our Support Team, Jo and Claire.
Between them, they have dedicated many years to supporting individuals and families across the SMA community. Their compassion, expertise and commitment have made a lasting difference to countless people, and their contribution to SMA UK cannot be overstated.
We know that many members of our community will have benefited from their support over the years, and we are incredibly grateful for everything they have achieved. We wish them both every success and happiness for the future.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we review and develop our services. We remain committed to listening to our community and ensuring that people affected by SMA are at the heart of everything we do.
If Claire or Jo were your support workers, please be reassured that the support available to you remains unchanged. Michele, Jo (covering Nicola’s maternity leave), and Becci are here to provide the same dedicated support and will be happy to help with any questions or concerns you may have. You can contact them via Office@smauk.org.uk or by calling 01789 267 520.
