Four of our fantastic supporters threw on their lycra and rode their bikes from Lands End to John O’Groats to fundraise for SMA UK this summer. Ian and his wife Jane lost their son Ben to Type 1 SMA 25 years ago this April, so there is a very personal connection, which has inspired them to support the charity.
Starting on May 24th they made their way through the West Country, across into central Wales, up to Manchester through Lancashire and Cumbria to Scotland. Once across the border they headed to Glasgow and then west through their home towns of Knightswood, Cardross, Helensburgh, and Garelochhead. Finally, they made their way to Oban, up to Mallaig, and across to Skye. As if the ride wasn’t long enough, they then took on the longest climb in the UK, the Bealach Na Ba, over to Applecross and then followed the iconic North Coast 500 to John O’Groats!
They have raised an amazing £7107 for SMA UK!
