Sadly, before the development of disease-modifying treatments,  few babies diagnosed with SMA Type 1 lived beyond the age of 2 years. SMA also shortened the lives of many others. Today research and treatment developments have brought huge changes to the SMA Community, but at times SMA can still be life-threatening.

Our thanks to the families and friends who have shared their memories of their loved ones with the SMA Community.

If you are living with or have been bereaved by SMA and haven’t been in contact with our  Support & Outreach Team  before now,  you can contact us or phone 01789 267520.

Some families and friends choose to fundraise in memory of a loved one. If you would like support to do this, please contact our Fundraising Team: fundraising@smauk.org.uk
