In the summer of last year, we were contacted by a primary school in Essex who were about to welcome a seven-year-old girl, Noora, to their class. Nora has SMA Type 2, and with her family, had to move quickly to the UK from Iran. The school were concerned that she had no wheelchair and was being transported to and from school in a buggy.

At the same time as being aware of Noora and her situation, we heard from a family who wished to donate a powered wheelchair that their daughter Molly had outgrown.

We immediately thought of Noora and with thanks to Permobil and our SMArt Moves Grants we were able to match the two together, making good the powered wheelchair with new parts and servicing by the Permobil team.

Noora came to the UK without her powered mobility, having this powerchair will mean she is independently mobile again. Noora will be able to interact and play alongside her peers, taking part in activities and enjoy daily life with her family.

A big thank you to everyone involved, especially Molly and her family for their kind donation and the Permobil team for working with us on the repairs, a brilliant result, much appreciated by Noora and her family.
